weddings
funny, isn't it, that we had our wedding the same day as kristin and tim, or brenda and eddie (scenes from an italian restaurant)? my same sister that told me (when i said i wanted to write music) "not everyone can be a billy joel" made no comparison between my wedding and the fictional wedding sung about in billy joel's "scenes from an italian restaurant". "Brenda and Eddy were still going steady in the summer of '75. When they decided the marriage would be at the end of July..." the song tells the story of a couple sort of like kristin and tim..."Brenda and Eddie were the popular steadies, and the king and the queen of the prom..." why am i the first to make this connection? if you know, or have any other pop culture reference to amuse me and waste my time, email me at UPSETTHEAPPLECART@HOTMAIL.COM

the story of how we met
sarah and i met at a west middle school football game when i was in 6th grade. i had a crush on her, because she was pretty and seemed really happy when i saw her in the hallway. (i heard from a friend that a sixth grader liked me, so i asked her to show me who it was. she did, and i thought he was adorable) at the football game, sarah approached me and said "i came to flirt". she was teasing me, as i knew that she was dating one of my friends (no longer my friend). i don't really recall what happened next, but i do know that she turned me down (would not "go with me"), (he never actually asked me out!) because she was the captain of the cheerleading team, and i was not on the football team. i did not pursue her any further. then one night in 1999, i met up with her again at a party at my friend's house. upon seeing her again, all of my previous feelings about her immediately returned. we talked and hung out and even kissed, but she was really drunk, (really drunk, but yet again wishing he would ask me out) and she came with one of my friends. (not 'with' but i can see where he might think that) the next morning when i woke up, she was gone. out of my life again. then one night in 2003, my rock and roll band was playing a show, and she walked into the room as i was working the door. i tried to be clever, and i said "don't i know you from somewhere?". she was with her boyfriend, the guy she was going to marry,(he wasn't my boyfriend, i had only gone on two dates with him) so i didn't really freak out or get all excited. two weeks later, my rock and roll band was playing another show at another bar, and she came in and there was an open seat next to me, and she said "is there anyone sitting here?", and i said "you are". (that was planned, i got rid of the other guy and made sure i was single for the next show) i got her number, and said we would hang out this weekend, and she said okay, but we didn't make it to the weekend. (when he called i was holding the phone, trying to come up with an excuse to call him. there was no way i could make it to the weekend without seeing or talking to him. as soon as he called i invited him over.) the next night, i called her, and she asked if i wanted to come over, and i was all like "yes". normally, i would never drink and drive, but i had to make an exception this time. so i drove to mooresville and we hung out and kissed again (she had to initiate it, because i was afraid). i knew that things would work out with us, seeing that she didn't have high expectations for a guy. ever since then, i wished she would have dated me when we first met. i could have been her "cory matthews". then people wouldn't say that we are rushing into this. we have known each other for twelve years and i wish i would have known what a great guy he was from the beginning. i could have been his "topanga lawrence", ('boy meets world' reference) we were naming our children less than a week into the relationship. (john 'jack' roy taylor and betty rose taylor, for those interested) everything was perfect, everything is perfect.
